A Critical Week Ahead: Take Action At The PRC, The Legislature, And Online!

We have a busy and powerful week ahead!

The next few days are full of opportunities for us to take action, show up for our communities, continue building power together, and keep fighting for the future we know is possible – from opposing Blackstone's buyout of PNM TOMORROW, to urging Representatives to pass SB 235 (The Microgrid Oversight Act) before the Legislative Session comes to a close this week, to participating in Environmental Justice Day with the No False Solutions Coalition, joining us tonight at 5:30 pm MT on Zoom for our Weekly We Got Us Network Meeting, and more.

Read on to learn how to plug in, take action, and make your voice heard in the critical fights we're facing this week!

DO YOU LIVE IN ALBUQUERQUE? OPPOSE BLACKSTONE'S BUYOUT OF PNM TOMORROW FROM 1:00-7:00 PM!

Over the past 2 weeks, hundreds of New Mexicans have joined us to speak out against Blackstone's proposed acquisition of PNM, New Mexico's largest electric utility, showing up at the Public Regulation Commission again and again to make it clear that control over our utility bills and energy future shouldn't be handed over to an out-of-state private equity firm interested in locking in profits for investors instead of serving the people.

This deal would result in higher utility bills for 550,000+ New Mexicans, water-intensive projects that would drain our desert's scarce resources, and money poured into false climate solutions designed to extend the life of extractive industry.

🚨 If you oppose this buyout, we need you to join us again in person TOMORROW from 1:00 pm-7:00 pm at the University of New Mexico Student Union Building (Ballroom C) for the Public Regulation Commission's 6 hour in-person public comment hearing on the Blackstone buyout. 🚨

Young people and community members across New Mexico shouldn't pay more so that billionaires can profit. Help us spread the word, pack the hearing, sign up to provide public comment, and demand that Commissioners reject Blackstone's takeover and keep our energy system in the hands of the people who live here, not wealthy, out-of-state investors hoping to cash in on control of our most basic resources.

🗓️ Planning to join us tomorrow? Help us get an accurate headcount by RSVPing to provide public comment at the Public Regulation Commission's hearing tomorrow!

📱 Can't attend the hearing in person? Help spread the word to your friends and family by sharing the social media post here!

DO YOU LIVE IN SANTA FE? JOIN THE NO FALSE SOLUTIONS COALITION TOMORROW FOR ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE DAY!

Tomorrow, February 17th, YUCCA will also join our fellow members of the New Mexico No False Solutions Coalition for Environmental Justice Day at the Roundhouse!

If you live in Santa Fe and can't make it to the Public Regulation Commission's Albuquerque hearing in person, we hope you'll join us tomorrow from 2:00-4:00 pm in the Rotunda for a powerful day of community action. Featuring a powerful lineup of frontline community speakers, cultural performances, and free lunch, together, we'll make our voices heard at the Roundhouse as we continue the fight for Environmental Justice and against corporate, industry-driven false solutions.

Help us spread the word and fill the Rotunda with community power – we can't wait to see you there!

S.B. 235 PASSED THE SENATE FLOOR! HELP US PUSH IT

ACROSS THE FINISH LINE BEFORE SESSION ENDS

Last week, we asked you to take action to urge Senators to pass SB 235, The Microgrid Oversight Act – and thanks to your advocacy, this critical bill passed the Senate Floor last week!

Now, SB 235 is headed to the House Judiciary Committee, and with just four days left in the 2026 Legislative Session, we need your help to get this bill across the finish line to protect our air, water, and climate from emissions from giant fossil-fueled microgrids like AI data center Project Jupiter.

📢 Help us urge House Judiciary Committee Members to schedule SB 235 for a hearing and vote YES on this critical bill to help fight Project Jupiter's emissions and ensure that microgrids operating in New Mexico comply with Renewable Portfolio Standards by contacting committee members with the information below:

✍️ To make outreach as easy as possible, we've also created a simple email/call template for your use below – please feel free to customize and expand on this language in your calls and emails to Representatives:

Hello Representative [NAME]'s office,

My name is [YOUR NAME], I live in [LOCATION] and I am calling/emailing today to urge you to push for a hearing for SB 235, The Microgrid Oversight Act, in the House Judiciary Committee and to vote yes on this critical bill.

This bill protects utility ratepayers, does not infringe on small businesses, and aligns microgrids with the state’s broader emission reduction goals.

Thank you for your time and consideration!

TONIGHT AT 5:30 PM MT: VIRTUAL WE GOT US NETWORK MEETING

Tonight at 5:30 pm MT, we're continuing our We Got Us Network Meetings – a virtual space we recently launched to help us continue to organize and build power together as we strategize for the fights ahead.

Each week, we've brought young people, community members, and advocates together across movements and generations to share resources and opportunities with each other and plug into urgent calls to action on the climate, social justice, and economic justice fights happening across the state.

We'd love to have you join us tonight as we prepare for an action packed week: from Environmental Justice Day and the Public Regulation Commission's public comment hearing on Blackstone's acquisition of PNM tomorrow, to the close of the 2026 Legislative Session on Thursday.
