Did you know that on November 3, every seat in the New Mexico Legislature is up for election? Get a head start in getting an absentee ballot - GO HERE to avoid crowds at the polls. Or you can APPLY WITH YOUR COUNTY CLERK - You can ask your clerk for a paper form in person, by mail, phone, or email.The deadline to apply for an absentee ballot is October 20. Early voting is another option to avoid lots of people, it begins October 17.
ALSO.... FILL OUT THE CENSUS 2020! - deadline is Wednesday! Every person that is not counted in the Census, our state loses about $3,700 in federal funds. We are at risk to lose millions due to an undercount in New Mexico. These funds are used for SNAP, health care, senior services & so much more!

Santa Fe Mutual Aid is still going strong with new community members signing up to be a part of the network every week! We have officially redistributed over $107,500 in various types of aid (grocery, rent, bills, medical supplies) to over 800 individuals and families in the area.
New Resources:
Soon, we will be partnering with the SF Coalition to End Homelessness to help disburse the $380,000 they have in rental assistance funds from CARES Act funding to people who are behind at rent.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a new order, effective from September 4th through December 31st, 2020. This order isn't 100% clear, but this emergency action appears to prohibit new and previously filed evictions of tenants who provide their landlords with a signed declaration stating that they meet a certain set of criteria. NM Legal Aid’s website has links for the necessary declaration and instructions in English and Spanish.
Chainbreaker Collective has an Eviction Protection Hotline. They will help answer your questions about your rights as a tenant and connect you to resources to help you stay in your home during and after this crisis. Call 505-577-5481 during regular business hours.

Amigas de Santa Fe Mutualista, les invitamos cordialmente a acompañarnos en una caminata en las montañas el miércoles, 30 de septiembre. Esta caminata es para mujeres (y niños) hispanohablantes y tiene como propósito ayudarnos a salir y relajarnos durante estos días difíciles. ¡Pueden invitar también a sus amigas y familiares! Se recomienda llevar cubrebocas ligeras, pero es optativo.
Chainbreaker Collective, nuestra organización hermana, ha establecido una línea de ayuda contra el desalojamiento. Ellos contestarán sus preguntas sobre sus derechos como inquilino y lo conectarán con recursos para ayudarlo a permanecer en su hogar durante y después de esta crisis. Llame al 505-577-5481.

NEW REPORT: Health, Healing, and Housing in Santa Fe: Community Land Trusts, Midtown, and a Vision for Post-Pandemic Development
NUEVO INFORME: Salud, Sanación y Vivienda en Santa Fe: Fideicomisos de tierras comunitarias, Midtown y una visión para el desarrollo pospandémico
Santa Fe has undergone significant gentrification in recent years, and is currently facing a major economic crisis and growing housing instability due to COVID-19. Key measures are needed to ensure that all residents are able to stay in their homes — particularly low-income residents of color, who have been disproportionately impacted by the pandemic because of systemic racism. Santa Fe needs to ensure that residents have access to affordable, healthy, and safe housing. Stable and affordable housing supports the well-being of children and families, and contributes to community cohesion and stability — all of which are key to ensure that all residents thrive. This research brief highlights the health benefits of a Community Land Trust as a sustainable, affordable housing model that can limit gentrification and displacement, weather economic trends, and help support recovery during and after the COVID-19 pandemic for a healthy Santa Fe.
Santa Fe debe asegurarse de que los residentes tengan acceso a viviendas asequibles, saludables y seguras. La vivienda estable y asequible apoya el bienestar de los niños y las familias y contribuye a la cohesión y estabilidad de la comunidad. EC Co-Director Miguel Acosta and Linda Marianiello spoke on The Environmental Impact of An Asphalt Plant on Their Neighborhoods on the Richard Eeds show. The NM Environment Department is preparing for a public hearing for Associated Asphalt and Materials, LLC’s air quality permit for the proposed Santa Fe Facility at 86 Paseo de River. It was planned on October 15th at 4:00 PM on webcast, but it has been pushed back to allow for more time to prepare. This permit is a new permit as Associated Asphalt consolidates its two plants. This will also allow the plant to operate at all hours of the day except during the Winter. Although one part of this plant is already located in this area, we must have a conversation about why the consolidation of the plant and the fumes and emissions from it must stay in this area. This area contains some of the highest concentration of people of color, families & people (especially the elderly, children and those with compromised health). You can read the English Notice here.

NMED se está preparando para una audiencia pública sobre el permiso de calidad del aire de Associated Asphalt and Materials, LLC para la instalación propuesta de Santa Fe en 86 Paseo de River, directamente afectando Riverside y Cottonwood. College y Career Plaza (CCP) es una organización, sin fines de lucro, apoyando a los estudiantes de preparatoria, en las Escuelas Publicas de Santa Fe, con sus planes para después de la graduación. Tenemos Coordinadores de Colegio y Careras en Santa Fe High School, Capital High School, y Early College Opportunities School. Nuestra meta es ayudar a graduar a cada estudiante con una visión para su futuro, esto lo hacemos a través de asesoría/consejería individual con estudiantes y diferentes tipos de talleres. Los talleres que ofrecemos abarcan de como aplicar para el colegio/universidad, becas, y como buscar y aplicar para trabajos, entre otros. Nuestros servicios son gratuitos y están disponibles para todos los estudiantes y sus familias, y también los podemos hacer/presentar en español. Aquí estamos para ayudarles ha empezar el proceso de aplicar para el colegio/universidad o/y para ayudar a su estudiante pensar en una carrera.

Call to Action from SURJ Call the mayor once a week between now and Indigenous People's day (October 12th) at 505-955-6590 and/or send him a letter/email at (mayor@santafenm.gov). Urge him to follow through on his promise. If you voted for him, remind him of this & let him know you are also expecting him to fulfill his promise. Background Mayor Alan Webber announced in June that he would take down the 2 obelisks downtown. He said this after pressure from 3 Sisters Collective and other local activists. They held a celebration and prayer circle which the Mayor attended. Now he is unresponsive. Read this AP News Article about this issue.

Lo dijo después de la presión de 3 Sisters Collective y otros activistas locales. Se realizó un círculo de celebración y oración al que asistió el Alcalde. Ahora no responde.
