Our Future Is Not For Sale! Take Action TODAY To Stop Blackstone's Takeover of PNM and Learn More About The Costs of Extraction This Weekend

Industry polluters and private equity billionaires are working overtime to control our future, deepen our dependence on extraction, and lock us into an energy system that prioritizes profits over people – but across New Mexico, young people, community members, and organizers are fighting back.

We need YOU to join us in the fight by taking action to stop the world's largest private equity firm from buying out PNM during the Public Regulation Commission's Public Comment Hearing TODAY and showing up this weekend to help us pack the house for "The Land of Sacrifice" at The Guild Cinema in Albuquerque.

🚨 TODAY AT 4:00 PM: TAKE ACTION TO STOP BLACKSTONE'S BUYOUT OF PNM

🚨 TODAY, the Public Regulation Commission will hold a Public Comment Hearing on Blackstone’s proposed acquisition of PNM – and we need your help to spread the word, pack the room, and urge Commissioners to say NO to this private equity buyout! 🚨

A Blackstone buyout would hand control of our state's largest electric utility over to Wall Street billionaires who have never even set foot in our communities – a deal that could result in skyrocketing rate increases for young people and families across New Mexico, money poured into water-intensive industry projects and false climate solutions that lock in our dependence on extractive industry, and an energy system that is built to line the pockets of shareholders rather than serving our communities. '

If you're one of the 550,000+ New Mexicans who would be impacted by this proposed acquisition, we need YOU to join us in-person or online this evening at 4:00 pm to provide public comment at the Public Regulation Commission's Public Comment Hearing to send a clear message that we deserve community-centered, publicly-accountable utilities and affordable energy for all – not a private equity takeover of PNM that will maximize profits for investors while our communities pay the price.

Do you live in Albuquerque or the surrounding areas? Join us in person at the Public Regulation Commission's hearing from 4:00-7:00 pm TODAY, February 5th at the Public Regulation Commission Roadrunner Conference Room (1st Floor) at 4100 Osuna Northeast, Albuquerque, NM 87109.

Are you unable to attend in person? Comments will also be accepted by Zoom or phone from 4:00-7:00 pm today – but you must register in advance to provide a public comment online by contacting Patrick Rodriguez at public.comment@prc.nm.gov or (505) 490-7910 as soon as possible before the start of the hearing.

Sign up to provide public comment here to help us get a head count and organize community turnout. You can also find a Public Comment Toolkit from the New Mexico No False Solutions Coalition here to help you prepare your public comment and make your voice heard.

This powerful new environmental documentary by filmmaker Annie Ersinghaus features members of the NMLAWS Coalition (including a former YUCCA leader!) as it explores the crisis unfolding in New Mexico amid rapidly expanding oil and gas production, its disproportionate impacts on marginalized, low-income, and Indigenous communities, and the coalition's groundbreaking lawsuit to challenge this injustice.

"The Land of Sacrifice: The Burden of New Mexico's Oil and Gas Extraction" is finally coming to Albuquerque at The Guild Cinema THIS Sunday, February 8th. Join us at 1:00 pm MT to see the short film and participate in a discussion about the oil and gas industry in New Mexico with a panel of community members and advocates.

The screening is FREE, but seating is limited – be sure to arrive to The Guild (3405 Central Ave NE, Albuquerque, NM) early to grab a seat and connect with community. We can't wait to see you there.
