🚨 Pack The Room THIS Thursday: Tell the PRC to Reject Blackstone's Buyout

In just a couple weeks, Public Regulation Commissioners are expected to decide whether or not Blackstone, the world's largest private equity firm, will be allowed to buy out PNM, our state's largest electric utility.

That means we're entering into one of the most important phases of a fight we've been waging for months, and we need all hands on deck to send a clear message to Commissioners: our utility – and our energy future – is not for sale.

For months, ratepayers, community members, and advocates from across New Mexico have stood together in the fight to stop this buyout: packing Public Regulation Commission meetings, providing hours of public comment in overwhelming opposition to a private equity takeover of PNM, protesting outside PNM's headquarters, and even traveled to New York City bring the voices of our communities to Blackstone's doorstep.

We've showed up over and over again because the decisions that shape our energy future should be made by the people who live here – not the billionaires sitting behind closed doors in Manhattan skyscrapers who have never set foot in our communities.

And this week, we need to show up again.

Last week, Public Regulation Commission Hearing Examiners issued a Recommended Decision urging Commissioners to hold Blackstone accountable for their illegal $400 million stock transaction by not only reversing their 2025 purchase of TXNM stock, but asking Blackstone to withdraw their application to buy out PNM entirely – concluding that the stock purchase was inseparable from the private equity firm's attempt to acquire PNM.

But the fight isn't over yet. Public Regulation Commissioners are the decision-makers who hold the power to approve or reject this deal, and they have yet to decide whether they'll heed Hearing Examiners' recommendation and take decisive action to stop the world's largest private equity firm from buying out a utility that over 550,000 New Mexicans depend on to keep their lights on and their families safe during hot summer days.

The coming weeks will determine whether decisions about the power in our homes will be shaped by the needs of the people who depend on it to survive, or whether control of essential infrastructure – and with it, our energy future – falls into the hands of a multi-billion dollar company whose business model is fundamentally rooted in extracting as much wealth as possible for its ultra-wealthy investors, while we pay the price.

🚨 That's why we need your help to pack the room at the Public Regulation Commission's next meeting in Albuquerque THIS Thursday, June 18th to send a clear message to decision-makers: our future is not for sale, our utilities are not commodities for Wall Street profiteers to exploit, and an out-of-state private equity firm that has already broken our laws has no business controlling the power in our homes. 🚨

Join us on Thursday at Clifford Plaza (4100 Osuna Road NE, Ste 102, Albuquerque NM 87109) at 10:00 am to show decision-makers that ratepayers are paying attention – and that we expect them to follow Hearing Examiners' recommendation and reject Blackstone's buyout.

Because Hearing Examiners did their job. And now, it's time for Commissioners to do theirs.
