We just returned from a powerful convening in Las Cruces where we gathered with organizers and allies from across the state to grow our knowledge, strategize, and build relationships with one another – and we're excited to report back on what we've learned over the past 3 days when we write to you next week.
In the meantime, we're preparing for a busy and exciting week ahead as we celebrate Earth Day and continue building community with each other. We've got trainings, events, and gatherings on the horizon – and we hope to see you there as we come together with fellow advocates, organizers, and allies to build power for the work that still lies ahead!
Whether you've supported our work since 2019 or are showing up for the first time, we hope you'll join us and our movement allies this week as we continue to organize, grow our collective power, and build a powerful people's movement that is ready to meet the urgency of this critical moment.

Pueblo Action Alliance: The 9th Annual Healing Circle – Saturday, April 26th
After you enjoy a Community Earth Day celebration at Valle de Oro, join our friends and movement allies at Pueblo Action Alliance for their 9th Annual Healing Circle, "Strengthening Community Relationships" on Saturday, April 26th from 1:00 pm-6:00 pm!
Our friends at Pueblo Action Alliance write on Instagram, "This year we aim to cultivate a space where we uplift the importance of strengthening our relational ties amongst each other as community members. As Indigenous people, we are currently experiencing an even greater threat to our livelihood, culture and communities with the current political climate. We want to remind our community members that we can lean into community and create spaces where we can offer resources to each other. This can look like food justice/sovereignty, creative outlets, and sharing meals. While these acts of community may seem small and simple, we are essentially countering the individualistic mindset that the greater society pushes upon us."

Sustainability Music Festival – Saturday, April 26th
The first ever Sustainability Music Festival is happening next Saturday, April 26th from 4:00 pm-8:00 pm at Rio Bravo Brewing Company! This music, culture and community event will benefit YUCCA and other community organizations including Tree NM, a nonprofit planting trees throughout the state, and Reunity Resources Farm, a regenerative agriculture farm in Santa Fe!
Join us this Saturday ($10 entry fee) to hear music from local artists like Dust City Opera, Kevin Herig, The Hunnies, and Enero, participate in a raffle, view art installations, and support local vendors!
TOMORROW: JOIN US FOR A LEGAL OBSERVER TRAINING – AND MARK YOUR CALENDAR FOR FUTURE TRAININGS!

Have you ever wondered how you can help to keep our community safe at direct actions and protests? Are you interested in learning how to help protect the rights of organizers doing the work on the ground?
We'd be honored to have you join us for our Legal Observer Training (Led by the National Lawyers Guild) tomorrow, Saturday, April 19th from 11:00 am-1:00 pm on Zoom!
During the virtual training, you'll learn how to serve as a legal observer to help keep our people safe in the streets, monitor and document government conduct, and stand in solidarity with organizers on the frontlines.
We keep each other safe – not the police or the state. Don't miss this chance to build your skills and learn about new ways that you can show up for your community.
In addition, we're excited to be holding 2 additional training opportunities for community members and advocates in the coming month – be sure to mark your calendars and register below to participate in these virtual workshops!
May 3, 11:00 am-1:00 pm - Virtual Nuclear Colonialism 101 Training (Led by Leona Morgan, Diné Anti-Nuclear Activist & Community Organizer
May 17, 11:00 am-1:00 pm - Virtual Radical Self-Love Workshop (Led by Richalah Lee)
YUCCA IS GROWING – HELP US FIND OUR NEXT HOME!

YUCCA has grown a lot since our work first began in 2019 – mobilizing thousands of New Mexicans to engage in bold direct action and policy advocacy, training new members from across the state, and organizing with our communities to build a strong people-powered movement for change.
🏠 Now, we've officially outgrown our current space – and we're turning to our trusted community for ideas, connections, and possibilities. If you know of a potential space in the Albuquerque or Santa Fe areas that are aligned with our values and can support the work of our growing team of youth organizers and staff – whether that looks like an office, building, or something creative – we want to hear from you!
We are hoping for a space for organizing, art, planning, and all of the creativity, imagination, and dreaming that comes with movement work.
We're not just looking for a building – we're looking for a new home where we can gather, grow, and continue to build towards the future we know is possible.
Know of a potential home for our work to organize for climate justice? Reach out to us with your leads and ideas at yucca@earthcarenm.org!
