We're Hiring: Help Us Shape The Narrative In The Fights to Come

YUCCA has spent the past month in a period of deep strategic planning – taking a step back from much of our day-to-day work to sharpen our vision, strengthen our strategies, and prepare for the fights that lie ahead.

As we enter the final phase of this strategic planning period and prepare for the work to come, we're building the team we need to meet this moment with the bold demands, disruptive action, community care, and narrative strategy that it demands.

Until May 15th, we're accepting applications for a Communications Manager and Communications Coordinator – two key roles that will help lead YUCCA's external communications, tell the story of our fight for climate justice, challenge the dominant narratives that enable continued extraction, and bring more people into our collective movement for change.

This is a powerful opportunity to step into a movement-rooted communications role directly supporting youth-led, community-driven campaigns for real climate and environmental justice – if you have previous communications experience and are excited about working alongside young people and community members to fight for the just and livable future we know is possible, one of these positions could be your next role!

YUCCA’s Communications Manager will lead and guide the organization’s external communications work, including narrative development, campaign communications strategy, engagement with members of the media, and the management the work of a Communications Coordinator, while contributing to the strategic direction of the organization through work alongside the YUCCA staff team.

This is a management-level role for an experienced communications strategist who's ready to take ownership of YUCCA's external communications and shape the narratives that move people to action – we're looking for a collaborative and strategic leader with a clear commitment to climate and environmental justice, 2+ years of relevant communications experience, success directly supervising the work of others, and a proven ability to translate complex analysis and issues into clear, accessible, and compelling messaging.

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator with a deep commitment to climate and environmental justice who is eager to continue to grow alongside the organization, bringing proven success working across multiple formats including social media, graphic design, and written communications to the Communications Coordinator role.
