TOMORROW: Help Us Pack The House in Santa Fe for "The Land of Sacrifice"

As the 2026 Legislative Session begins, communities across New Mexico are facing the impacts of unchecked industry pollution and extraction – poisoned water, contaminated air, and climate-induced natural disasters – as corporations continue to rake in profits.

Over the past few months, YUCCA has joined fellow members of the NM LAWS (New Mexico Land, Air, Water, and the Sacred) Coalition to travel across the state for screenings of The Land of Sacrifice: The Burden of New Mexico Oil and Gas Extraction, a short film by Annie Ersinghaus that explores the crisis unfolding in New Mexico amid rapidly expanding oil and gas production. And tomorrow, the film is finally coming to Santa Fe.

Featuring organizers, advocates, and members of the NMLAWS coalition (including a former YUCCA leader), this powerful environmental documentary by Annie Ersinghaus explores the oil and gas crisis unfolding in New Mexico, its disproportionate impacts on marginalized, low-income, and Indigenous communities, and the coalition's groundbreaking lawsuit to challenge this injustice.

Presenting urgently-needed policy solutions to protect public health and address the climate crisis, this film tells a story instrumental to shaping the future of our state and world.

Join us tomorrow, January 28th from 6:30-8:00 pm at the Center for Contemporary Arts (1050 Old Pecos Trail, Santa Fe, NM 87505) to see The Land of Sacrifice for free on the big screen, hear directly from a panel of community members and advocates about their experiences with the oil and gas industry, and learn more about what's at stake during the 2026 Legislative Session. No tickets are required to attend.
